Celestia Awards 2026 Officially Launches Under the Theme “Becoming the Legacy”

The third edition of Liberia’s Gospel music awards platform will feature 27 award categories, a 40% vetting committee and 60% public voting model, and plans to advance artist development.

Celestia Awards has officially launched preparations for its 2026 edition under the inspiring theme “Becoming the Legacy.” The announcement was made on October 10, 2026, during a press conference at Royal Hotel in Monrovia, marking the beginning of the journey toward the third edition of the awards, scheduled for January 2027.

This year’s theme challenges Liberia’s Gospel music community to look beyond recognition and consider the lasting impact of its music, ministry, creativity, and service. It reflects Celestia Awards’ commitment to celebrating excellence today while encouraging the growth, development, and sustainability of the industry for future generations.

From Recognition to Legacy

Since its establishment, Celestia Awards has worked to create a platform that recognizes the contributions of Gospel artists and the wider network of professionals who help shape Liberia’s Gospel music industry.

The inaugural edition in 2024, themed “Back to the Future,” established the foundation for a platform dedicated to celebrating Gospel music and recognizing outstanding talent. The second edition in 2025, under the theme “Legacy in Motion,” continued that journey by emphasizing progress, excellence, and lasting impact.

Now, with “Becoming the Legacy,” Celestia Awards is looking toward the future with a renewed emphasis on meaningful recognition, collaboration, and opportunities for growth.

The theme reinforces the belief that legacy is not built through awards alone. It is created through consistent excellence, music that inspires, lives that are touched, opportunities that are opened, and contributions that continue to make a difference long after the moment of recognition has passed.

Twenty-Seven Categories to Celebrate Gospel Music Excellence

The 2026 edition will feature 27 finalized award categories, recognizing excellence across various areas of Liberia’s Gospel music industry.

The categories span artistic performance, music production, songwriting and collaboration, music videos, Gospel music genres, worship leadership, creative ministry, technical musicianship, and Gospel media.

Recognition will extend to male and female Gospel artists, Gospel groups and choirs, emerging artists, producers, worship leaders, spoken-word poets, praise dancers, instrumentalists, comedians, and industry professionals working in radio and Gospel media.

The awards will also include a Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing exceptional and lasting contributions to the Gospel music industry.

Through this broad range of categories, Celestia Awards seeks to celebrate not only the artists whose music reaches audiences, but also the creatives, technical professionals, and media institutions whose work supports the industry. Here’s the Nomination Guide.

A Voting Model That Balances Professional Assessment and Public Participation

Celestia Awards 2026 will adopt a combined voting model that gives a defined role to both the Vetting Committee and the public.

The final results will be determined using the following weighting:

  • 40% — Vetting Committee
  • 60% — Public Voting

Under this model, the Vetting Committee will contribute 40% of the final results, while public votes will account for 60%.

The approach is intended to balance professional assessment with public participation, allowing the evaluation process and the voice of Gospel music supporters to contribute to the final outcome.

Public voting is an important part of the Celestia Awards experience, giving fans and supporters an opportunity to participate in recognizing the artists and industry contributors they believe have made outstanding contributions.

Further information about nomination requirements, voting procedures, and participation guidelines will be communicated through Celestia Awards’ official channels.

Artist Development: Taking Recognition Beyond the Awards Night

One of the key areas Celestia Awards is exploring for the 2026 edition is how award recognition can contribute to the professional development of selected artists.

The organization is working toward an Artist Development & Industry Advancement Initiative designed to explore opportunities in professional music production, digital distribution, publishing guidance, and collaboration.

The broader objective is to create pathways through which recognition can lead to practical opportunities for artists to develop their work, reach wider audiences, and strengthen their careers.

Celestia Awards is also exploring collaborative music projects that could bring together award-winning artists from different categories to celebrate the collective talent and creativity within Liberia’s Gospel music community.

These initiatives remain under development. Further details regarding the artist incentives, eligibility, implementation, and associated partnerships will be announced subsequently.

The organization intends to communicate confirmed arrangements through its official channels as planning progresses.
